John Mayer Recovering From Surgery, Three Dead & Company Shows Postponed

The Dead & Company are postponing three shows following guitarist John Mayer's surprise surgery from a bout of appendicitis on Tuesday (December 5).

"John Mayer is recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits," a representative for Mayer tells Billboard. "The Dead & Company concerts scheduled for December 7 in Orlando, Florida and December 8 in Sunrise, Florida, in addition to the December 5 show in New Orleans, are postponed. All tickets for these shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Information on the rescheduled concerts will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase."

The December 5 show at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans was officially postponed yesterday. The December 7 show had been booked for the Amway Center in Orlando, while the December 8 was to take place at BB&T Center in Sunrise.

Mayer was on tour with Grateful Dead founding members Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, along with Mickey Hart, who joined the band two years after its formation in 1967. The Dead & Company performed Saturday (December 2) at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Friday (December 1) at American Airlines Center in Dallas and Wednesday (November 29) at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
