Texas Government Employee Faces Hefty Fajitas Theft Charge

An employee with the Cameron County, Texas Juvenile Justice Department is facing theft charges in a case involving fajitas.  Gilberto Escaramilla was let go back in August after it was discovered he had arranged delivery of 800 pounds of fajitas from a county food vendor for a department that does not have the item on its menu.  When confronted by superiors, Escaramilla confessed he used county funds to pay for the fajitas and deliver them to other customers.

Investigators arrested Escaramilla last week after records revealed he had stolen over $1.2 million of fajitas over the last 9 years.
